This little gem of unlikely preparation of food I learnt from from Trinidad & Tobago. This will boost your iron 10 fold (Folklore)! It reminds me of my first pregnancy where I wanted to eat a cow and I mean the whole cow, the bones, the marrow, the sinewy tendons that connect the meat, the cartilage and of course the meat that falls off the bone.
Ladies if this has happened to you should know your 'she' is looking for iron. It's in most of our women/s transitions, the first menarche, the loss of purity moving into the known, the pregnancy and of course the last menarche for menopause. Sorry fellow vegetarian vegan humans! I only know how my body craves, but if your woman is hankering for a cow, this is an alternative for the iron - by folk tale laws. Try this recipe for her and if the taste is too much add it to your stews or curries of something, for your 'her' to eat.

If your body is needing iron, liver and offle is good, it requires a very special hand to cook it. I was fortunate to have the luxury or the luck of a Zulu Warrior's hand and Kalahari Wisdom preparing liver for me - when my belly was fat with his line's child! I am not fond of liver but under this man's cooking it was a treat, as long as my 'she' needed iron!
Another iron provider is the long lost art of bone broth lovingly tendered and simmered by the women for at least 3 days. Sometimes we just don't have the time. Here is the best, next quick Trinni fix from my adventures with a true pirate lover, from a long time ago.
Just for you.

To get the iron out of this recipe you need the bananas to be greeny greener green. A deeper green than the tips of the bananas featured above (the only banana pic I have). The deeper the green "ze more iron for you!" I have picked this up at the fruit markets Westfield Shopping Centre and Harbourtown on the Gold Coast. Also at the Brisbane Markets.

You will need - so get it:
8 -10 small green bananas
Clean water
Himalayan Rock Salt

Get down to it:
Cut the tips off 8 -10 small green bananas an leave a split in the skin, place the green bananas in the pot with at least 4 cups of clean water.
Throw in a pinch of Himalayan Rock Salt Bring to boil and simmer 45min - 60mins please ensure it does not boil dry.
At first the green "fig" bananas may taste bland so go ahead and add it to your curries, stews or saucy dinners. It's the iron from the banana you are after here. I promise you will get use to it, and if you keep going with it you will begin to crave it.
Your pot will be slick with oil and hard to clean, I have a trick to have your fussy pots sparkly and clean perhaps I will add this neat cleaning trick further down my blogging!

I believe Broths are essential, my children do not. Broths are the easiest pot to share the flavour of love.
In my early 20's - 30's, I worked as a nutritional cook, allied health practitioner, naturopath, massage therapist and instructor in the fabulous Health Cafes, Gyms, Spas and Resorts including Bay Leaf Delhi, Coolangatta, Camp Eden Health Retreat Currumbin Valley, Versace Health Spa & Sheraton Health Spa The Spit, and The Golden Door Spa Retreat, Willow vale.
Broths, Paleo & Ketosis were not the trend thing in this time but were very present. In my life's longing to learn, I stumbled upon the magic and passion involved in cooking. The 'everything' shows you what you wish to learn and the clients observed that my passion for cooking reminded them of this woman in a book who loved the herbs & spices as much as I did
"Like Water for Chocolate" is published in 1989 by Mexican novelist and screenwriter Laura ... Like Water for Chocolate (Book Cover).png. U.S book cover. Author, Laura Esquivel. Original title, Como agua para chocolate. Country, Mexico. Language .... This is book is a must read or if you are a voyeur just watch the video to reclaim your passion!!!!
So of course I read it and then integrated & acted it out.
Let the magic of food unfold. Find you in your food.
The taste of these cooked green bananas is unusual and bland, so perfect to put into you curries and stews. Eventually though, over time I developed a taste even a craving, for this delicacy and I hope you will enjoy this as a delicacy too! My Pirate's recipe invokes strengthening for your rapture.
